This is our second evening in the Barstow, CA area. One of the refuge staff at Las Vegas, no names shall be mentioned, referred to Barstow as an “armpit.” We ain’t arguing. Barstow will not even get an honorable mention in our memoires.


Driving here from Las Vegas, it finally dawned on us that we’ve “gone to the desert on a horse with no name…” We decided we have had our fill of the Mojave Desert and decided not to travel another 70+ miles one way to visit the Mojave National Preserve VC. We are ready for a change. So today it was exploring Barstow and Calico, and just hanging around the air conditioned motor home to catch up on our zzzz’s and reading. Tomorrow we turn north and head to Visalia, CA to us as a jumping off spot for exploring Sequoia and Kings Canyon NP’s.
