We are now well past our first weekend of campground hosting. It was a cold, wet weekend. Despite that we had about 15 campers at the height of the weekend. Some left early because of the weather and so that 15 number may not have stayed at 15 for very long. We had one disturbance which required the staff to intervene and haul off one member of a family and request the other member of the family pull up stakes and leave. That was enough excitement for one month's worth of campground hosting.

The weather has turned around and has been in the 70's and low 80's. There is only one other camper in the campground; he is a long-term resident. He was here when we arrived and will be vacating on the 11th. Otherwise, the campground has been empty. This weekend is the opening of fishing season and hopefully the campground will see more action. We expect a visit from Rhys and the grand kids on Saturday. That should be fun. Last Saturday Kedric and Pollen visited. We're starting to get caught up. We have seen dentists and doctors, and I will now be spending a little more time than I really wanted to with the dentist.

Today we made a very difficult decision and then followed through with it. We euthanized Libby. She had been failing for a long time, but she always seemed to rally and have good days when we thought for sure it would be her last day. Unfortunately, today was a good day for her, but we made the inevitable decision to end her struggles. She has lived for at least 10 years with Addison's disease and had developed serious, debilitating arthritis in her back hips and legs. She had also lost her hearing. Anyway, I could go on in an attempt to justify our actions, but in the end the lack of dignity and quality of life propelled us to make the decision. She has been the delight of our lives for the past 14 years. We have had at least 6 other dogs, and she by far has been our favorite. We will miss her, but we have photos and memories galore to tide us over the rough places. She has been in such bad shape long enough that we will not miss the Libby that has lived with us for the past 6 months. And so our motor home is empty tonight, but we experience the emptiness with mixed feelings. We are glad we had the many good times with her, and we are now glad both she and we will no longer struggle with her limitations. I'm sure there is a tear or two that will be shed, but the tears will be shed as we remember her in the good times, not for the actions we took today.

Enough. Looking forward, tomorrow I go and get prepped for two crowns, Ugh. There is something to say for false teeth. How many root canals and crowns can a person have and still consider their teeth their teeth? I'll let you know in another year when I probably will have to do this again.
